In 2016, Olga Nenerica joined ABENA as a warehouse worker. Originally from Romania and with a background in clothing design, she didn’t have a clear career path in mind when she moved to Denmark. But driven by ambition and initiative, she steadily worked her way up, taking on new roles and growing into leading strategic projects.
What is your role at ABENA?
I work as a Project Manager and Team Lead in ABENA’s Group Master Data department. I lead projects that improve how we work with data across countries and departments, with a focus on scalable solutions within master data, compliance, and sustainability. It’s about reducing complexity and supporting our digital growth.
What do you find most meaningful about your work?
The combination of responsibility and flexibility. It’s meaningful to see how the work I lead creates improvements that matter, not just for our department, but across ABENA globally. I also find it rewarding to support my team, to grow together, and to be part of something that moves the company forward. That gives me a strong sense of professional pride.
Looking back, what made your professional growth at ABENA possible?
Some people might say it’s all luck, but I don’t think so. It’s about hard work, staying focused on what you want, taking initiative, and investing time and energy – even when things feel unfamiliar. The support I received from my manager, my colleagues, and the organization was just as important. I’ve been lucky to have leaders who gave me responsibility and believed in me.
Alongside growing your career at ABENA, you are pursuing a diploma in Sustainable Business. What inspired that decision?
As my responsibilities grew, I saw the need for new tools and insights to better support the company and to grow professionally. I started with basic leadership training, followed by an Academy Degree in Management, and now I’m completing a diploma in Sustainable Business, which I expect to finish next year.
I researched the courses myself, evaluated their relevance to my role, and prepared a case for my manager. At the time, ABENA was expanding its focus on areas like sustainability, compliance, and digital processes, so there was a clear need for the skills I would gain. I showed how this education aligned with our strategy and how I would manage my workload while studying.
What do you value most about working at ABENA?
Where do I even start? Great leadership, great colleagues, exciting projects, and most of all, the chance to grow. What really makes a difference is the environment. I come from a different culture and background, but that was never a barrier to having great tasks or building strong relationships. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to come with an idea, even if it’s not perfect. You’re encouraged to try, to learn, and to grow - and that’s something I really appreciate.
