SAP (Super-Absorbent Polymers): Is another important material of the absorbent core. SAP absorbs and retains the liquid even under pressure and protects against odor. SAP can absorb 35-50 times its own weight depending on SAP type.
Fluff (cellulose/paper fibers, ECF fluff, FSCTM-certified): Forms the basis of the absorbent core. Fluff absorbs 10 times its own weight and disperses the liquid across the underpad.
PP nonwoven (polypropylene): Forms a breathable, woven-like material that is comfortable and soft to the skin. In production, hydrophilic NW is used for the topsheet and sublayer to instantly absorb and distribute liquid into the core, while hydrophobic (liquid repellent). NW is used for barriers to minimize risk of leakages.
