What is the new EU Single-Use Plastic Directive about?
Perhaps you have already heard of the upcoming Single-Use Plastic Directive EU 2019/904, but do you know what it actually means for you and your business?
The Single-Use Plastic Directive aims to reduce the impact of certain plastic product whom has a negative impact on the environment. By 3rd of July 2021 is the new directive entering into force and you need to be aware of the impact to your business and perhaps start to look for alternatives.

The Single-Use plastic Directive also includes consumption reduction, marking requirements, and extended producer responsibilities beside the bans already mentioned.
New Marking requirements
Then there is a new Marking Requirements EU 2020/2151 which affects all products that are frequently inappropriate disposed of.
This includes sanitary towels, tampons and applicators, wet wipes, tobacco products with filters and beverage cups. The color, font size and type as well as the marking and placement restrictions is defined the EU 2020/2151. The markings needs to carry the language of the certain country in which the product are sold in.
Extended Producer Responsibility
Then there is the Extended Producer Responsibility, which is affecting food containers, packets and wrappers, beverage containers, cups and also paper cups with plastic lamination for beverage including covers and lids as well as light weight carrier bags, wet wipes, balloons and tobacco products with filters.
The aim of the Extended Producer Responsibility is that producers should carry the responsibility for waste collection or clean-up of litter.
