Abena nominated for Danish DI Award!

Abena has been nominated for the Danish DI award 2017 for the intelligent incontinence product, Abena Nova with MediSens.
DI (the Confederation of Danish Industry) works to provide the Danish industry with the best possible working conditions and each year, the organization presents an award to a company that has created new opportunities and growth.
The theme of this year’s award is digitalization, and the award will be given to a company that has strengthened the interaction with customers and improved business via innovative thinking and digital technology.*
Abena has been nominated for Abena Nova, which is the world’s first intelligent incontinence product for everyday use. Research show that about 50% of nursing home residents suffer from incontinence, and while not life-threatening in itself, incontinence has a negative impact on quality of life. At the same time, the growing prevalence of incontinence strains budgets and resources in the care sector.
Abena Nova has been developed together with Silicon Valley-based company, MediSens Wireless, and is a disposable incontinence product with built-in sensors and a small discrete clip attached to the product. The sensors register when the product is wet and send an alert to the caregivers’ smartphones or tablets.
The real-time actionable insights from Abena Nova enables caregivers to better plan and provide personalized care based on the individual’s needs. At the same time, care staff gain insight into the resident’s incontinence pattern to plan and improve toileting and personal hygiene.

Abena has been nominated together with four other companies; DI Droneinspektion, Herning Vand, LEO Innovation Lab & Netcompany. The winner will be announced on September 26.
