March 16, 2020: ABENA is carefully monitoring the developments of the COVID-19 outbreak.
As a global supplier of healthcare products and protective wear, we do everything we can to support our customers and colleagues in this delicate situation and we take our responsibility very seriously.
We focus on the continuity of our supplies to local healthcare authorities and prioritize the health and safety of our customers and colleagues. We do everything we can to handle orders and deliveries of protective wear, face masks, hand disinfection, etc. but see an extraordinary large demand right now. That means that our response times are longer just as we will not always able to inform on delivery times.
Internal precautions
To prevent the spreading of the COVID-19, we follow the rules and guidelines recommended by international and local authorities.
We do everything we can to keep the virus at the door and take all necessary precautions to make our customers and colleagues feel safe. We ask our colleagues to work from home as much as possible and perform digital customer meetings, while we continuously communicate our internal guidelines so we can help taking care of each other.
Our own production facilities and global offices continue being in operation and we have increased our alert to keep up with the global healthcare sectors’ needs in terms of our product assortment.
The following rules and guidelines have been implemented to reduce the spread of the virus:
- Customer meetings are performed online
- All visits to our office buildings and tours in our production facilities are suspended without exemption
- All international business travels are suspended through March and April
- We practice 'greetings without contact', increase the distance between our office seats and sanitize often to limit the risk of spread.
How to prevent infection?
Follow the World Health Organization’s basic protective measures against COVID-19:
- Wash your hands frequently: Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly and use sanitizer often.
- Maintain social distancing: Maintain distance between yourself and others.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth: The virus can spread from your hands when touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Practice respiratory hygiene: Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
- If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early: If you feel unwell, stay home and follow the directions of your local health authority.
- Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider: Follow the advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
